Get Out Of My Life, Woman has got to be one of my favorite soul tunes.

It was written by the brilliant Allen Toussaint in 1966 and made famous by Lee Dorsey on The New Lee Dorsey.

Of course, it was also a staple in the Jerry Garcia Band's live rotation.

Here's a version from a recent gig with some incredible musicians, who I'm lucky enough to call my friends.

Get Out Of My Life Woman is a twist on the classic 12 bar blues form.

Typically, we'd see V chord happening in its usual place, bar 9, which would be a G7.

But Toussaint uses a bVII, so we have Bb7 in bar 9 giving the song its unique flavor.
