Every song presents a unique challenge when you try to arrange it for solo guitar.
For Phish's Silent in the Morning, the hurdle is that Mike and Trey don't strum typical chords throughout the song.
Rather, they played intricate harmonized riffs throughout the entire form.
(They use a similar technique on the verse of Theme From the Bottom, too.)
Instead of trying to match what Trey and Mike are playing during Silent, I just treated it as a regular chord melody arrangement while trying to capture the vibe of the tune.
Silent in the Morning is the perfect ending to Rift. The long dream/nightmare battle is over and we’re left to reflect on everything we’ve been through to get to this moment pic.twitter.com/D5WUUC6h8Y
